Have you ever thought that you knew someone? Be it a friend, family member, or relative?
You've made a mistake.
How much do you even think you know someone?
Even for close friends.
You may be able to tell what the next sentence they would say.
You may be able to know what that person would be doing at a particular timing.
You may know how that person might react to a particular action.
But you would never ever truly know what he/she is thinking about.
I may have hung out with some friends for a really really long time.
However ultimately how much do I truly know about them?
I don't know what they are thinking.
I don't know what goes on in their minds as they do something.
I don't know what kind of person they truly are.
Its sad, but as soon as we start growing older and older, the facades we put up get more and more. The masks we wear increase ever so slowly.
People are not truly as they seem. For us, we think we may know a person because we know they think like this, or they would do things like that, but which of them are true and which of them are lies?
The truth is difficult to find in a being that hosts so many forms of lies. We are the very embodiment of hypocrisy and lies.
The person we usually know is the person we came to think we knew, the person we envisioned that person to be. What he/she actually is, you would not know. We view people with bias and tinted glasses. Its not all that surprising when the person you thought you knew turns out to be a different person, is it?
The most mysterious thing about it is, why do we think we know a person?
When the person doesn't reveal the true feelings he/she has, the thoughts that they have buried inside their heart, the emotions they have kept bottled, and the lies they've spoken..
You can't say that you truly know a person is it?
Just by going through daily activities, or going out with a person a lot, it doesn't mean you know a person. You just know the person as the person you came to know of. But it may all just be an illusion.
Then how do we go about trusting anyone then? We don't know how anybody really is, so how do we trust them?
What is trust?
Trust to me, is a kind of faith or belief in something.
And it is a fragile thing, an existence that can be shattered in mere seconds.
How do we trust a person we do not actually know?
I think trust is a form of unspoken bond between 2 people. Its like you don't have to speak it out, you don't have to tell the person that you trust them. You just do. Its a vague feeling, and questionable at that.
So how much do we trust each person? Isn't it a horrible thing that I don't trust any of my so called "friends"?
Its not horrible. We do in fact, trust each friend to a certain degree that we deem sufficient. However, there are always people you would trust more than another. This is usually due to hanging out with a person a lot. Yes, the time you spend with a person helps develop trust. It makes you feel that you start to know a person more and more.
But in fact you do not.
You do not know when the trust would betray you, or when you would betray your friend's trust. We are all humans, we aren't pure. We do badmouth, we judge, we may even backstab our friends. At the time of the act it may seem righteous, but it is not. However you may never know if the other person at the same time is badmouthing you, or judging you, or even backstabbing you. The vile thoughts they have in their heads.. You can never control. Neither can you control the thoughts you have about them.
I don't think we can ever trust another human being with all our heart.
I just don't believe it possible.
And it grosses me out to just realise it recently that, you'll never ever know a person. What type of person they truly are.
